Erik Iverson is a fifth generation Montanan who grew up on the family farm and cattle ranch in the Sweet Grass Hills of north central Montana. Erik graduated from Polson High School then earned his undergraduate degree at Montana State University-Bozeman and a law degree from the University of Oregon.
After law school, Erik worked in Washington, DC, on agriculture and natural resource issues for |
Congressman Rick Hill of Montana. After Congressman Hill announced his retirement, Erik was hired to handle agriculture, resources and finance issues for Congressman John Thune of South Dakota, who is now a U.S. Senator, having defeated Sen. Tom Daschle.
When Denny Rehberg was elected Montana’s Congressman in 2000, he selected Erik to become his first Legislative Director and he served in that capacity until being promoted to Chief of Staff in January 2002. As Congressman Rehberg’s Chief of Staff, Erik is responsible for managing Denny’s Washington, D.C. office as well as his four Montana offices.
In September of 2006, Erik took a leave of absence from Rehberg’s office to take over the struggling re-election campaign of Sen. Conrad Burns. Erik is credited with rapidly closing a double digit gap in the polls and fueling a comeback that ultimately fell just short with Sen. Burns losing by a handful of votes.
Since taking over as Chairman of the Montana Republican Party in June of 2007, Erik has instituted a series of aggressive reforms to restructure and strengthen our party and revitalize the grassroots. His focus on increased communication and involvement from Republican officeholders and precinct volunteers alike has included an emphasis on improving the use of technology, with a redesigned website, e-mail newsletters, and a constant dialogue between party officials and community leaders. Erik’s strong leadership and commitment to our shared Republican values has helped put Montana in a strong position to retake both houses of the state legislature and secure victories in statewide elections.
Erik and his wife Tosha have been married for 11 years. They currently live in Missoula with their sons Nolan (5) and Eli (2).
Liane Johnson was born in Browning, Montana on the Blackfeet reservation. She is an enrolled Blackfeet and Haida (Alaskan) Indian. Liane graduated from Cut Bank High School and attended college at MSU-Northern (Northern Montana College at that time) and at Blackfeet Community College.
