It's Almost Like Holding A Convention In A Phone Booth

Last Friday, Dennis McDonald sent out an invitation inviting Montanans to join him at the Latte Da Coffee Shop in Plentywood for a listening session. This would be a pretty unique listening session, as the Latte Da is actually a coffee kiosk in an empty parking lot.  Other events he calls listening sessions are really nothing more than McDonald stopping by Democrat fair booths and talking to local party operatives.

"As Dennis McDonald continues to hold ‘listening sessions’ throughout Eastern Montana, one has to question whether anyone other than baristas are actually listening to him,” said Bowen Greenwood, Executive Director of the Montana Republican Party. "Since Denny Rehberg has held 72 listening sessions throughout his current term, Dennis McDonald apparently plans on playing catch up by calling it a listening session every time he stops to get a latte or a corn dog at the fair.”

To distract Montanans from the reality of his so-called "listening sessions,” McDonald has once again resorted to gutter politics and lies.  His campaign has accused a College Republican filming McDonald’s events of being a paid congressional staffer traveling on the taxpayer’s dime.  The volunteer in question does not work in Rehberg’s congressional office and is not paid by taxpayers. Considering this, it is ironic that McDonald does not seem to have a problem with the numerous paid videographers who are sent out by the MT Democrat Party and his own campaign to keep tabs on Congressman Rehberg.

"While McDonald’s statement is completely false, this is the type of campaigning we have come to expect from Dennis McDonald,” said Greenwood.  "He throws out lies just to see what sticks. Last week he was going after Randy Vogel, this week he is attacking college kids. Who knows who he will go after next in his desperate and futile attempts to gain traction for his campaign.”
